The amount of radioactivity in building materials depends on the type of material but the amount of radiation released from these materials is typically very very low. Yes it is true. These marbles barely register on sensitive geiger counters and the radiation emitted barely creeps above the background radiation we experience everyday from natural sources. Generally these substances contain traces of radioactive elements like uranium thorium and their daughter products like radium polonium and radon.

Although the marbles emit beta particles and gamma rays which are dangerous at high levels they only give off a small number of these radioactive decay products.
